The people and organizations on this page put their names behind this campaign because they believe Norfolk and Suffolk deserves a senator who answers to neighbors, not corporate donors. All of them are betting on the same thing: Working people, organized together, can take back our state government.

Persis Yu is running for Massachusetts State Senate in the Norfolk & Suffolk District, which includes Dedham, Norwood, Walpole, Westwood, and parts of Boston (Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, Roslindale, and Hyde Park). A consumer law attorney and former social worker, Persis is running to fight for affordability and accountability for working families. Watch her campaign video to learn why she's running.

Why I'm running for Massachusetts State Senate

Persis Yu for State Senate

The Trump Administration’s escalation of this forever war means that a crisis happening halfway around the world lands directly on our kitchen tables. We have to fight back.

Massachusetts families are being priced out.

Housing, child care, and health care costs keep climbing, and people who have built their lives here are leaving because they can't afford to stay.

But we can change that.

The state has the power to drive costs down, the authority to make corporations pay their share, and the ability to strengthen the workers whose wages have to cover the difference.

Persis Yu is fighting for affordability in Massachusetts.

“Schools are struggling,” says Persis Yu, the Boston-based deputy executive director of the Student Borrower Protection Center. What’s striking, she says, is “the willingness of schools to basically sell their own name to these for-profit companies — or nonprofits, at least in name or in tax status.”

-Boston Globe

With fewer than 100 days left before the September 1st Democratic primary, State Senate candidate Persis Yu called on incumbent Mike Rush to join her in a series of debates to allow voters a chance to hear the candidates speak on critical issues facing the district. Rush has not held a town hall meeting in the district in years, and has not faced a challenger in more than a decade.
